Algeria’s Elias Mahmoudi to Headline ONE Championship’s First Event of 2024

Algerian fighter Elias Mahmoudi will challenge Superlek Kiatmoo for the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing world title in the main event of ONE Championship‘s ONE Fight Night 18.

ONE Fight Night 18 is ONE Championship‘s first event of its monthly fight series in 2024. It will be held at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Nicknamed “The Sniper”, the Algerian star returned from a lengthy injury, brushing aside the first Mexican WBC Muay Thai champion Edgar Tabares with an emphatic first round knockout in August.

Elias Mahmoudi was close to winning the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing world title against Petchdam Petchyindee in 2019, losing to a close technical decision to his Thai counterpart.

Despite his mixed results in ONE Championship, the Algerian fighter has amassed an impressive overall 33-7 record and proven his credentials in Muay Thai and Kickboxing,

Now, the 25-year-old rising star is set for the biggest challenge of his career as he takes on one of the best strikers in the world today.

Superlek witnessed the best year of his professional career and has appeared unstoppable.

The Thai star racked up eight consecutive wins, four of which have come through finishes.

The 28-year-old Thai star opened his year by claiming the title against Daniel Puertas.

The reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing champion then picked up three consecutive knockout wins against his compatriot Danial Williams, Algeria‘s Nabil Anane, and Russia’s Tagir Khalilov.

Superlek capped off his sensational run this year by defeating ONE Flyweight Muay Thai world champion, Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the biggest Muay Thai contest in recent history.

Three Bouts Announced for ONE Fight Night 18

ONE Championship announced two other fights scheduled for ONE Fight Night 18.

Former ONE Bantamweight MMA world champion John Lineker makes his first foray into Muay Thai against British veteran Liam Harrison.

South Korea’s Kwon Won Il and Mongolia’s Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg will also lock horns in a Bantamweight MMA bout.

ONE Fight Night 18 kicks off at 3:00 AM Mecca and is broadcast live via BeIN Sports in the MENA region.
