Young Iranian Muay Thai fighter Parham Gheirati picked up an impressive knockout victory on his debut at ONE Friday Fights 40, an event by ONE Championship on Friday 10 November.

In a Bantamweight Muay Thai fight against Thai opponent Samingnum M Ekachart, 19-year-old Gheirati survived an early knockdown after a high kick dropped him to the canvas.

However, he made a quick comeback, turning on the pressure with combinations of straight punches before the first round ended at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

In the second round, the Iranian continued his aggressive push forward, hitting his opponent’s body and face with a variety of punches. Gheirati kept attacking, forcing his shook opponent into the corner until he dropped Samingnum who failed to answer the referee’s count.

Gheirati, who lives and trains in Pattaya, featured in his fifteenth fight in major Thai stadiums, having previously fought at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and Rajadamnern Stadium. With this win, he raises his overall professional record to 9-5.

Speaking in his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Gheirati said: “I feel really good I’ve been training really hard for two years and this is a really good start for me. I felt really good and thanks for my coach. All this training came to a good conclusion. I trained really hard so I couldn’t give it up so I had to stand up and fight”.

Gheirati, who trains as part of the team of ONE’s former Algerian athlete Mehdi Zatout, also received a performance bonus from ONE CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong.
