Usman Nurmagomedov has been suspended for six months after testing positive for a banned substance.
25-year-old Nurmagomedov is the younger cousin of mixed martial arts icon and UFC lightweight division champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Nurmagomedov had defeated Brent Primus at Bellator 300, but the win has now been overturned to a no-contest, according to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).
Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN that the fighter will not be stripped of his title.
However, the Russian fighter could be removed from the $1m lightweight Grand Prix final against the winner between Patricky Freire and Alexander Shabliy and Primus, who lost the semi-final in October to Nurmagomedov, may replace him.
As part of his suspension. Nurmagomedov has enrolled in voluntary drug testing, according to the CSAC.
