ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing champion Roman Kryklia defeated WBC Heavyweight Muay Thai champion via knockout at ONE Fight Night 17.
With the win, the 32-year-old Ukrainian adds the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai world championship to the ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing belt and the Heavyweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix.
The finish came at 0:25 of the second round after Kryklia threw a right hand followed up with a left hook that sent Roberts crashing to the canvas.
The first round was close with both fighters employing a cautious approach as they looked for openings.
The Australian put his Ukrainian counterpart in the clinch then threw a right jab. Kryklia charged forward, struck with a right hand that dropped Roberts to the canvas.
As Kryklia directed a kick to the midsection, Roberts then caught his right foot before the two men entered the clinch again.
Kryklia hit Roberts’ chin with a left jab while the latter answered with a powerful body shot that wobbled Kryklia.
With this win, Kryklia raises his clean ONE record to 6-0 and takes his impressive overall slate to 50-7, with 28 of these wins coming via KO.
On the other hand, Roberts sees his overall record drop to 14-4.
